Obituary

Nan E. Eickstaedt, 65, of East Moline, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

          Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

          Nan was born on July 14, 1954 in Davenport, the daughter of Ray and Arlene (Rickertsen) Eickstaedt.  She graduated Bettendorf High School in 1972. On October 16, 1976, she was united in marriage to Jerry DeFrates in Davenport.  They were married for 35 years.  Nan worked at Red Apple Daycare in Bettendorf for over 15 years.  She enjoyed crafting, gardening, taking walks, hiking, spending time with her friends from high school, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.  Her grandchildren were very important to her and she rarely missed a sporting or dance event.  Nan was a member of the Bettendorf VFW Womens Auxillary.

          Those left to honor her memory are her parents, Ray and Arlene Eickstaedt of Bettendorf; her children, Nichol (John) Fogle of Hannibal, Missouri, Amber DeFrates of Davenport, Douglas (Allison) DeFrates of Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lowder, Adrianna Lowder, Robby Lowder, Mekhia DeFrates, Octavian Wiseman, Avani Wiseman, Aria Wommack, Olivia DeFrates, Drake DeFrates, Haylee DeFrates, Jackson DeFrates; three step-grandchildren, Shelby, Leah, and Joe Fogle; one great-grandson, Jermain DeFrates; brother, Steve (Debbie) Eickstaedt of Long Grove; nieces, Melissa (Chad) Huston of Cedar Rapids, Lindsay (Peter) Erickson of Des Moines; and ex-husband, Jerry DeFrates of Bettendorf.

          She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jordan DeFrates-Martens.
