Well, Kit, it's Race for the Cure weekend in the Twin Cities...and I'm thinking of you.  I do every year, jogging a few memories... I think of what a fun loving spirit you had, recalling my folks driving you, me & Dave Schick to Ames for freshman orientation @ Ames.  Then there was  the time you came up to my dorm floor @ ISU, wearing your green apron, stained with flour and sauce after delivering a pizza (good grief, where is that picture?).

I'm remembering our ride home to Bettendorf from Ames...seems to me we got a ride as far as the Cove in Tipton and my Dad came to pick us up, and he kept calling you "George's daughter"...funny how memories fade a bit...that was you, wasn't it?  But I do vividly recall riding back in your little VW Bug.  Now you're going to tell me that it was a Chevy Malibu, I suppose! And then there was the conversation about your plans to drop out of college...wasn't much longer , when I'd heard you headed to Nashville.  Oh, that fun loving spirit of yours!  Kudos to you for following your heart...as only you can attest, life's too short.

Rest well, dear Kit, assured that you may be gone but not forgotten. I trust that you're watching over your friends (Bentley in particular) and smiling.  And when I feel that fresh air @ my shoulder, I'll know that you've joined us @ the reunion...

Your friend,

"Patty" (you were one of the few I never corrected to say that, "It's Pat")

Gone way to soon but certainly NOT forgotten.  Her spirit lives on in so many people.  Kit and

her family were my second family and there are way too many memories to share.  She was

one of a kind and we are all much better for having known her and her large circle of friends.

She is sorely missed.

Today, July 6 is the anniversary of Kit's passing.   She fought the fight with breast cancer for over 10 years always with a brave front.  I was blessed having Kit as  my beloved sister for over 20 years of my adult life.  My children, Ellie, Nick, and Laura were so fortunate to have her as their aunt.  She was always a lot more fun than their parents!  Kit left her mark and I see shades of her fun loving and creative spirit in all of my children.  One of Kit's strongest attributes lives on.  Her ability to make friends and connect people is celebrated every year this weekend, a party Kit asked her friends to have in her honor called Woofest!  I carry Kit in my heart to our 40th class reunion!  Here's to Kit!

April 30, 1971: Kit & I filled her bathtub with flowers. We assembled MayDay Baskets and proceeded to deliver them all over the QC during the night, The escapade somehow ended in breakfast at Reifes with David Schick buying. A magic night with a magic friend - one of many. Still hear from some of those who got a basket - they knew it was us somehow? Everyone was so lucky to know her and call her friend!
